Heyo! We are sorry for not and blogging everyday like we promised but here is a summary of what happened:
Monday:
The bus ride to Oregon was full of laughter and music.
Not everyone was excited, but everyone was having a good time.
Tuesday:
Theater Workshop! We learned new Shakespearean words, terms, and phrases. Fun Fact: In Shakespeare's time females were not allowed to act in plays.
We also had a Make-Up Workshop where we watched a young
lad who shall not be named switch from a male to a female. With the help of plenty of make-up of course.
The last workshop we had for the day was stage combat.
We were taught how to make the allusion of punching, slapping and pulling hair without actually hurting anyone of
course. It looked so real we were fooling ourselves.
After the workshop we had lunch at Lithia park. So beautiful. We saw deer who were close enough to touch. We ate right next to a river that sounded beautiful.
We saw our first play on Tuesday. We saw Twelfth Night at the Angus Bowmer theater. "The shipwrecked Viola disguises herself as a man, takes on the name Cesario, and enters the Duke's service. Orsino, the Duke of Illyria, attempts to woo the Countess Olivia. Cesario falls in love with the Duke and Olivia falls in love with Cesario."
We had read the book, so we were excited to see what it would look like acted out. It was better than we all expected it to be and everyone enjoyed it!
Wednesday:
Our workshop for the day was the music of Shakespeare's time workshop. We learned about flutes, drums, and some sort of cross between a ukulele and guitar. It was fun.
After that we saw the Twelfth Night Movie. Which no one enjoyed. Twelfth Night is supposed to be a romantic comedy and in the movie it was very serious.
We didn't let the movie ruin our day though. We went and saw Great Expectations (at the Angus Bowmer Theater again) which everyone enjoyed of course. It was about how people act according to the environment they're in, but all people can change. This was a night play, so everyone was dressed in their best clothes.
Thursday:
Sadly our last day of The OSF.
Our second to last workshop was the SOU Jump Start Theater. Everyone had to work together to make still pictures just using our bodies alone. It had to be completely silent and there couldn't be any leaders. It wasn't as hard as you would expect, it was actually pretty fun. Then we into groups of three. One person made up a word,
one person made up a definition and the last had to say it how
they think Shakespeare would use it in a sentence.
After we went to The Yeomen of the Guard play. It was so enjoyable because they included the audience in the play. Some people were even sitting on the stage.
After that we had our last workshop which was the Ye Olde Project Runway workshop, where we tried to duplicate one of Queen Elizabeth's dresses with only tape, newspaper and 20 minutes on the clock. Everyone brought out their creativity and the dresses were incredible.
Friday:
The ride back was great despite the fact that the fun was over and that was our last school field trip as a committee. The sights were beautiful. It's sad that the year went by as quickly as it did. We won't see each other as much anymore and most of us won't keep in touch but times
like these really make you appreciate what we had here.
